Release notes

This page summarizes the user-visible improvements available for review on the CheckFirst.ca UAT website.

Wed Sep 9 release

This release strengthens public-site browser security and gives administrators safe, practical reporting controls.

  • Added enforced browser security and unique response protection to anonymous public pages while leaving sign-in, password reset, administration, signed-in visits and localhost unchanged.
  • Added per-site reporting choices so administrators can collect violations locally or send them to one supplied secure reporting address.
  • Added a 1-to-365-day local report retention setting that defaults to 30 days.
  • Added a read-only violations list with bounded, deduplicated records while omitting visitor addresses, sensitive URL details and submitted code samples.
  • Improved public search compatibility with the stronger browser policy so results continue to load without policy errors.
  • Increased administrative menu text and icons for easier scanning while retaining the established menu spacing and layout.
  • Added clear Security Dashboard scores for overall protection, security, compliance and best practices. Administrators can select the website being assessed; Public is selected by default, while Editor is clearly identified as not requiring a public-page policy.
  • Added Content security policy violations to the existing Lists area, using the same list layout as Events and Redirects and a direct link from Security.
  • Made the CSP Report list more useful with complete report details while keeping the authoritative violation history in the managed hosting service.
  • Moved the assessed-website choice into Security settings, selected Public by default and kept configuration and report actions out of the Dashboard.
  • Made administrative Lists open faster by removing unnecessary setup and editor downloads without changing personal view preferences during page opening.
  • Restored bottom-aligned actions in Dashboard dialogs and removed the unwanted wide-screen gap beneath the public navigation.
  • Added safer content-type handling to website responses.
  • Kept complete page styling available throughout website updates so visitors never see an unstyled page while a new release becomes active.

Tue Sep 8 release

This release makes list editing and website administration more dependable, with clearer status and more consistent controls.

  • Kept large administrative lists visibly populated with loading placeholders during rapid mouse-wheel scrolling and scrollbar scrubbing.
  • Improved record editing so Save and Cancel remain available after values are cleared, and closing or cancelling a changed record asks before discarding work. Successful saves identify the record that was saved.
  • Corrected empty URL and image alt-text fields so their labels begin centred and move smoothly above entered text.
  • Aligned record titles with their icons and Close controls, showing Created when no later update exists and making complete truncated details available on hover.
  • Standardized administrative menus with the same border, shadow, spacing and responsive placement.
  • Improved tag entry so leaving a field does not accidentally add unfinished text and returning to the field preserves the draft.
  • Improved content publishing and runtime-update status so unavailable, unpublished, diverged and completed states are clear, and successful updates return automatically to the refreshed Dashboard.
  • Added strong browser protections to anonymous public pages, with a separate policy for each hosted site and no change to sign-in, password reset, administration or the experience of signed-in visitors.

Mon Sep 7 release

This release makes text editing easier, keeps search controls consistent and helps editors reuse page content confidently.

  • Added a larger text-editing window with clear Cancel and Apply actions, readable wrapped text and an optional live formatting preview. Preview selection and scrolling follow the source, and each editor’s Preview choice is remembered across pages.
  • Added an in-place Markdown reference with examples of the supported formatting, including headings, emphasis, links and lists. The reference and editor fit smaller screens while keeping their controls accessible.
  • Made the main-menu and search results inputs (edit the search page) use the same control, with Enter-to-search, a clearer search button and automatic selection of the search term on the results page.
  • Kept the video frame and play symbol visible when a video has no address, with a clear “Video is not configured” message instead of an inactive watch link. Review Life stages (edit the page).
  • Organized the block chooser into clear control groups, including a CheckFirst group for site-specific controls, while preserving existing page content.
  • Consolidated duplicate reusable sections so shared content stays synchronized, while retaining the existing layouts on affected pages.
  • Matched the daily Publishing and Website Settings charts, including full-width timelines, compact hour labels, point styling and the current-time endpoint. Simplified their toolbars and removed explanatory text beneath the graphs.
  • Removed a stray word that briefly appeared while the release notes loaded (edit the page).
  • Improved consistency and stability of publishing dialogs, editing panels, menus and form updates, including keeping menu labels and icons in place as their values change.

Fri Sep 4 release

This release improves Dashboard clarity, page editing and list administration, with more consistent previews, panels and website-health reporting.

  • Combined uptime and outage reporting in one Publishing-style Website Settings graph, with green uptime, red outages, labelled points and Overall, This week and Today ranges. Review data includes clearly identified test history, while local reporting identifies when retained outage history is unavailable.
  • Aligned local uptime reporting with the current site startup and made Publishing summaries easier to scan by placing Content status before Last snap.
  • Refined the Security Dashboard certificate summary with colour-coded expiry, a clear warning for self-generated certificates and a three-pixel, square-ended lifetime strip at the card’s top edge. The remaining-life percentage stays right aligned within the normal card padding.
  • Aligned scrollbars with each panel’s right edge while preserving content padding, including contact, subscription, reporting, navigation and quiz panels at narrow widths.
  • Restored consistent centred switches and clearer selection controls while keeping selectable card layouts stable.
  • Improved Lists administration with an All lists starting point, complete dates and times, clearer relative redirect paths and a reusable image selector with a thumbnail and editable address.
  • Made selected list images portable between environments, identified invalid image addresses in place and aligned image-label typography. Review investment courses and events (edit its event records).
  • Added page management and duplication tools, including automatic current-page selection, dependable scrolling and clearer row-action menus.
  • Improved slideshow background scaling in the home page editor (edit the home page), kept event calendar colours consistent and corrected an investment-registration link on How to invest (edit the page).
  • Added a correctly sized, non-playing video preview and separate Watch video link for editors while preserving the public video player. Review cryptocurrency scams (edit the page).

Thu Sep 3 release

This release gives editors easier page starters, restores the Blog throughout site navigation and makes high-volume administration and publishing workflows more consistent.

  • Added ready-to-use starters for a blog article (edit the Blog page), a page with a banner, a page without a banner and a five-page financial-safety quiz, each with representative content and imagery that closely previews the finished page.
  • New blog articles begin with the complete article header, a sample Finances topic and related articles selected from that topic, then appear automatically on the Blog after publication with a `/blog/` address.
  • Restored the Blog as the first Resources destination in both the main menu and expanded navigation, and removed temporary sample articles created during verification.
  • Improved Lists, Events, Investing 101 classes and Redirects administration with consistent icons, compact numbering, predictable column widths, newest-update sorting, immediate loading feedback and responsive record properties that always follow the latest selection.
  • Corrected event and redirect editing with consistent date pickers, switches, required-field presentation and single activity notices for create, duplicate, delete and refresh actions.
  • Refined administration toolbars, menus and refresh controls with consistent type, sizing, rounded states, hover feedback and shadow-free presentation.
  • Improved Website Settings, publishing, firmware and security workflows with clearer themes, status, confirmations, progress, cancellation, failure recovery and final health checks.
  • Corrected the expanded navigation on the home page (edit the home page) so it no longer covers the top of the header when an administrator is signed in.

Tue Sep 1 release

This release adds timely investing guidance for students and improves the fit, stability and layering of common navigation, form and calculator interactions.

  • Published Back-to-school: An investing guide for students and young investors (edit the article) with practical information about budgeting, financial goals, investing accounts, diversification, fees, fraud awareness and getting started.
  • Updated the bottom feature on the home page (edit the home page) to introduce the new guide and keep its destination within the website.
  • Refined the Contact form (edit the Contact page) with a balanced sensitive-matter switch, input-matched borders and states, consistent section spacing, circular required markers, edge-aligned transparent scrollbars and complete panel borders. Form buttons and other controls now begin at their final size instead of visibly growing as the page loads.
  • Improved contextual help in the compound interest calculator (edit the calculator) and retirement savings calculator (edit the calculator) so explanations open above and centred on their question buttons, remain visible over page content and yield correctly to menus and dialogs.
  • Preserved the main navigation at phone and tablet widths and removed obsolete warning output from the WordPress sign-in experience.
  • Improved current-site publishing so every stage advances visibly through preparation, activation, database updates, cache clearing and final health checks, then reloads the administration page to show the newly published version.
  • Simplified Update now so administrators confirm the latest content snap and current server in the standard publishing window, then continue through one uninterrupted set of publishing steps.
  • Added a gentle blue pulse to the active Snap and Publish action and current workflow point, while respecting reduced-motion preferences.
  • Kept self-updating progress connected while the server reconfigures and replaces its content database, then refreshed the administration page only after cache clearing and final health checks succeeded.
  • Kept current-site publishing status available when a content update signs the administrator out, so the final refresh happens promptly instead of leaving progress frozen.

Mon Aug 31 release

This release gives administrators a clearer, more dependable workflow for preparing and publishing website content.

  • Added managed cancellation plus clear completed, cancelled and failed outcomes, with active publishing progress restored after a page reload.

Wed Aug 26 release

  • Improved the Redirects list so rapid mouse-wheel movement stays smooth and moves proportionally in either direction, including high-speed gaming mice.
  • Corrected the scrollbar so its size and position represent the complete list, dragging to either end reaches the first or final redirect, and fast scrubbing shows loading placeholders until rows are ready.
  • Restored sorting by Enabled, consistent administrative typography and double-click access to the right-side Properties panel.
  • Preserved multi-item selections across unloaded portions of the list using efficient ranges, including selecting from the final redirect back to the first and continuing to display the selection while scrolling.

Tue Aug 25 release

This release gives administrators a faster, more consistent workspace for managing website lists while keeping public search, navigation, quizzes and panels dependable.
